In military terms, Redcon-1 basically means Readiness Condition = Full alert, unit ready to move and fight, so its not hard to guess that this new independent zombie movie is going to be action packed!
It is set in several different locations around the UK (including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, London and Stafford among others) and has attracted some of the world’s most acclaimed and commercially successful creative producers in Hollywood including Carlos Gallardo (producer of the ‘El Mariachi’ trilogy); Kevin Eastman (co-creator of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’) and Stephen L’Heureux (producer of Frank Miller’s ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’).
The basic premise of the film sees a a squad of eight Special Forces soldiers, amidst a deadly pandemic that has seen half the country quarantined, assigned to rescue a scientist who is believed to hold the cure that can end the zombie emergency that has ensued. Their mission sees them travelling into the heart of the quarantine zone, and in the process uncovering a secret that threatens not only their survival, but that of mankind itself. Oooh, a secret, wonder what it could be?!
Anyway, we love all things zombie and especially zombie movies (who would have thunk it, eh?) and we know that our fans do too, so sharing information about Redcon-1 here for anyone who hasn’t yet heard about it. The filmmakers have already received a huge amount of support from the local communities where they filmed. They also entertained a large military presence on the film, including an ex-serviceman who had served in Iraq and Bosnia who was the military advisor, as well as numerous other people who have worked in the armed forces. Several airsoft teams also played extras in the film, along with members of different zombie organisations across the UK so there is actually a good chance a lot of you already know about this film but for those that don’t, don’t miss it!
Critics have hailed Redcon-1 “A Fast-Paced, Action Packed Zombie Epic Unlike Any Other” (Loaded) and “The Raid Meets 28 Days Later” (Box Office Buz) ahead of the much anticipated nationwide release.
With the films imminent release at several indie cinemas and numerous Vue cinema chain sites across the UK, the excitement is building and the guys behind it are looking to pack out each cinema and share the Redcon-1 word far and wide. If you love zombie movies and can’t get enough of them you might also want to share the word, because the best way to get more is for such productions to be a success.
